Starting from 25th July 2025, American Express has revised the convenience fee for purchasing Amazon Pay and Amazon Shopping gift vouchers via its exclusive Reward Multiplier platform. Earlier, the platform used to charge 0.75% + GST, but now it has been changed to 1.5% + GST. There will be no change in the reward earning for purchasing vouchers; only the convenience charge has been increased.
Keep in mind that for Amazon Pay Gift Cards and Amazon Shopping Vouchers, there is a limit of ₹10,000 on the maximum purchase amount in a calendar month for each Card Account. This includes all cards held by the cardmember, as well as any add-on cards.
Bottom Line
This is the second time American Express has increased the convenience charge for purchasing Amazon vouchers. This will affect all cardholders who fulfill their milestone requirements by purchasing such vouchers via the Reward Multiplier. Still, most cardholders shall largely remain unaffected as such convenience charges are the norm for most credit card issuers in India.
